What are Group Lessons? During group lessons, students receive individual piano instruction, work on computer software to learn note reading and ear training skills, and do independent work. Students are introduced to new skills every week and given individual playing assignments. These lessons create a fun, supportive environment that helps students feel connected to the group, and learn together. Students learn both from individual instruction and from each other. Group Lessons are great for beginning students, and I encourage most new students to start out in group lessons. Benefits of Group Lessons While some folks initially may be concerned that group lessons create peer pressure and competition, they quickly find that group lessons actually help students feel more independent and confident in piano. Playing independently, with ear phones, over the pieces they’ve just had instruction on before they leave the lesson, helps students feel more secure about playing, at home and also for each other. Plus, working together with other students increases creativity and fun! Over time, experience has shown that most children learn more in small group lessons because they encourage independence that builds confidence. This builds a strong foundation for success, and it helps students in many positive ways as it transfers to other areas of their lives. In addition, TallyPiano Offers Keyboard Theory Classes |
