Simple
Gifts from the ballet Appalachian
Spring, by Aaron Copland. Simple Gifts was originally an American
Shaker tune written in the 1840s. It represents the Shaker ideals
of simplicity and peace.
The
MP3 file is my original arrangement; I hope you enjoy this improvised
version.

Morning
from Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, by
Edvard Grieg. Edward Grieg (1843-1907) grew up in Norway. He enjoyed
playing the piano, but he really liked to make up his own music
instead of practicing. As an adult he studied music in Germany,
but could not forget his homeland. Almost all of Grieg's music reflects
the beauty of his native land, fjords, mountains and traditions
of Norway. You've probably heard his work In the Hall of the Mountain
King (tune from the Super Sugar Crisp Cereal song).

about the wonderful ability children have to live in the present

On
My Way, Cynthia VanLandingham.
This composition is about beautiful, still moments, and stopping
to appreciate the beauty around me every day. It lifts up the value
of striving to make each day a special memory I can call home whenever
I wish for a moment of contentment and peace.
